About InformationWeek's Outsourcing Tech Center

Few topics roil the waters as does outsourcing. Whether you're a huge fan or are utterly against the practice, we cover every angle, from H-1B visas to companies availing themselves of software development, business process, and other forms of outsourcing. We cover both offshore and U.S.-based outsourcing. Our case studies and other stories discuss the benefits, ranging from cost savings, to challenges including managing across time zones and cultures. We cover the major players, including EDS and IBM, and the major locations, from India and China to other countries. We look at the impact on IT jobs, and our blog has opinions from IT pros weighing in on every aspect of the practice. If you're looking into managed security services, we show you how to weigh the cost savings against the risks that come with handing over data to a third party. We cover the uncertainty some Indians who work in the outsourcing field have about the industry, and we have research from InformationWeek, Gartner, and Forrester, among others, talking about how other customers rate their outsourcers, why companies outsource to begin with, and best practices. We let you know how to protect your company from IT outsourcing deals gone awry, whether it's lawsuits or millions of dollars spent on good projects gone bad. We also look at how Microsoft, IBM, and other IT vendors are using outsourcing within their own global operations.
